Jonathan Wangubo

Jonathan Wangubo M., is the Managing Partner of Amplify Legal and a corporate, commercial, regulatory and disputes lawyer with extensive experience advising multinational corporations and leading businesses operating in highly regulated and asset-intensive sectors.

Before founding Amplify Legal, Jonathan worked with IMMMA Advocates, where he advised major corporate clients on complex commercial, regulatory and dispute matters. During his time at IMMMA, he was seconded as in-house counsel to Acacia Mining PLC and subsequently to Tembo Nickel Corporation Limited, gaining first-hand experience of the legal, regulatory, commercial and operational realities of major mining businesses. These secondments, together with his broader advisory and disputes work for mining companies, have given Jonathan extensive and practical knowledge of the mining sector and its regulatory environment.

Jonathan subsequently spent four years as General Counsel for Lipton Teas and Infusions Plantations Africa, formerly Unilever, providing strategic legal counsel across the Group?s plantation and business operations in Africa. In this role, he advised, the board, senior management on regulatory compliance, corporate governance, government and stakeholder engagement, legal risk management, business integrity, investigations, commercial matters and complex legal and regulatory issues affecting multinational operations.

Through his in-house roles and secondments to multinational organizations, Jonathan developed substantial experience in human rights due diligence, responsible business practices, corporate investigations, business integrity and compliance frameworks, including the identification and management of risks arising within complex international supply chains and business operations. He has also developed extensive knowledge and practical experience in privacy and data protection, advising businesses on the legal and regulatory implications of handling personal and commercially sensitive information.

Jonathan?s experience gives him a distinctive understanding of what businesses need from their lawyers: practical, commercially informed advice that manages risk without unnecessarily standing in the way of business objectives. Having worked both in private practice and as senior in-house counsel, he understands the pressures faced by Boards, executives, compliance teams and operational managers and brings this perspective to every client engagement.

Jonathan has successfully acted for multinational corporations in high-stakes commercial litigation, arbitration and regulatory disputes, including matters involving substantial financial exposure and complex contractual, governmental and regulatory issues.

At Amplify Legal, Jonathan focuses on helping clients anticipate legal and regulatory risks, navigate complex regulatory environments, strengthen governance and compliance, investigate business integrity concerns, protect their businesses and resolve high value disputes. His combination of private practice, in-house and sector specific experience enables him to provide legal advice that is both technically rigorous and grounded in the commercial realities of doing business in Tanzania and across Africa.
